Opportunities and Activities
The department of teacher education offers students more than just classroom learning. Students in the department have access to a wide variety of opportunitites and activities to develop the skills they're learning in their courses, fieldwork and research.
Association for Young Children
University of Dayton's Association for Young Children is the professional organization for early childhood educators at UD. UDAYC organizes programs and tutors for local elementary schools; sends students to national, state and local conferences; and participates in area professional development programs.Bombeck Family Learning Center
The Bombeck Family Learning Center is the Dayton area's leading early childhood education center. Operated in conjunction with the School of Education and Allied Professions, it serves as a demonstration school for students studying early childhood education.

The Collegiate Middle Level Association provides professional growth and service opportunities to Middle Childhood Education majors.Collegiate Adolescent to Young Adult Club
UD's chapter of the Collegiate Adolescent to Young Adult Club builds a greater community in the AYA academic program by providing opportunities to apply academic knowledge to service and field experiences, sharing information about career opportunities and building connections with professionals in the field. CAYAC is the founding organization of the student education symposium which brings together all licensure areas to learn about successful, national educational programs and innovations in education.Council for Exceptional Children
The UD student chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children increases interaction and awareness of those with special needs by becoming involved with numerous organizations and schools.Dayton Early College Academy
The Dayton Early College Academy is an innovative community school sponsored by Dayton Public Schools, and operated by the University of Dayton. Its singular focus is preparing urban students to attend and succeed in college. In 2008,
US News & World Report awarded DECA a bronze medal in its second annual ranking of America's Best High Schools. DECA serves as a demonstration school for University of Dayton students who are studying adolescent to young adult education.

The Lalanne Program at the University of Dayton specializes in supporting beginning Catholic school educators. A post-graduate program, Lalanne provides an opportunity to combine ervice and teaching. Those in the program make a two-year commitment to teach in an under-resourced Catholic school, live together in a faith community and take master's degree courses during the summers.

The annual student-run Student Education Symposium connects pre-service teachers with practitioners in the field through speakers, discussion panels, workshop sessions and networking opportunities.
