Employer Information

Students usually alternate semesters of work and study, sometimes working a double term. This gives them 3-5 work terms with an employer. The semesters run from the end of August to mid-December, the beginning of January to the end of April, and the beginning of May to mid-August. The students register for co-op, which maintains their status at the University as full-time students. They do not earn credit for the co-op experience, but their work term record appears on their permanent transcript.

We ask that the employers give their students work related to the students' major. Each subsequent work term should build on the previous one and be more challenging with more responsibility and possibly rotating the co-op students to different departments (if applicable). At the end of each term, the student completes a short report, and we send performance evaluations to employers to be completed about each student.

Every year, we host on-campus, co-op interviews in October and February where 60-70 employers interview students for their positions. In addition, we provide resume referral year-round.
