von Ohain Fuels and Combustion Center Director Named ASME Vice President and Associate Editor
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) has announced the appointment of Dilip Ballal, Ph.D., ASME Life Fellow and Director of the von Ohain Fuels and Combustion at the University of Dayton to ASME Vice President (Elect) for the International Gas Turbine Institute. The three-year appointment will begin in 2006. This position oversees ASME’s entire aero and industrial gas turbine activities, comprising more than 5,000 members and 20 technical committees. Election to this leadership position within the ASME is considered one of the most prestigious honors a member can receive.
Effective July 1, 2005, Dr. Ballal was also appointed an associate editor of Transactions of ASME: Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power. This venerable journal was created 125 years ago as a collection of papers on energy conversion technology. For the last 50 years, papers recommended for journal publication at the annual ASME Turbo Expo have been the major contributions to the journal.
