von Ohain Fuels and Combustion Center Director Receives AIAA Award
Dilip Ballal, director of von Ohain Fuels and Combustion Center, is the recipient of the 2007 American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Air Breathing Propulsion Award presented for sustained meritorious accomplishments in the arts, sciences, and technology of air breathing propulsion systems. He is cited for his outstanding contributions that have greatly advanced the science and art of combustors and jet fuels for air breathing propulsion. The award will be presented Wednesday, July 11, 2007, in conjunction with the 43rd AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference, Duke Energy Convention Center, Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Scott Donnelly, CEO, GE-Aviation and Honorable Ted Strickland, Ohio Governor, will preside at the ceremony.
Dr. Ballal is a past recipient of ASME-IGTI Aircraft Engine Technology Award (2002), AIAA Propellants and Combustion Award (2000), and AIAA Energy Systems Award (1993) and a Life Fellow of both AIAA and ASME. He serves on various national academies' study committees on air breathing propulsion. Currently, he is vice president of ASME for International Gas Turbine Institute and Editor-in-Chief of ASME Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power.
