von Ohain Fuels and Combustion Center To Host Jet Fuels Workshop
A one and one-half day “Jet Fuels Toxicology” workshop to discuss the health effects of exposure to current and future jet fuels will be held on November 16 and 17, 2004, at the National Composites Center's Education and Conference Center, 2000 Composite Drive, Kettering, Ohio 45420.
There are still a number of unresolved issues associated with the health effects of aviation jet fuels. Of main concern is the JP-8 fuel; however, other blends of jet fuels and a full range of hydrocarbon fuel are also of concern. The Fuels Branch of the Air Force Research Laboratory, Propulsion Directorate, Turbine Engine Division (AFRL/PRTG) would like to review the toxicity of JP-8, discuss health issues associated with JP-8 use and safe handling, and engage in dialogue to identify research and funding to address the remaining issues and data gaps.
The delegates attending this workshop are expected to be fuel researchers and fuel logistic personnel, and the presenters will be toxicologists, industrial hygienists, physicians, and risk assessors.
