FAFSA

In order to be considered for any federal, most state or additional university aid you must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). We encourage you to complete the web-based version of the FAFSA.

If you are not from Ohio, please check with your state's agency for higher education to see if an additional application is needed to be considered for state aid.

Important Dates

  • January 1: FAFSA becomes available for next year.
  • March 1: We recommend you file the FAFSA by this date.
  • May 1: For current students, FAFSA results received after this date will result in 'late applicant' status.

FAFSA on the Web (FOTW) Worksheet

The 2014-2015 FOTW worksheet is optional and should only be used if you plan to use the FOTW (online FAFSA). It provides you a preview of the questions that you may be asked while completing the 2014-2015 FOTW but does not take the place of the FOTW. Do not submit this form for processing.

Your Federal Student Aid PIN

In order to file your FAFSA electronically, you'll need to acquire a PIN. This PIN will authenticate your identity and will be used for numerous federal financial aid processes. If you are a dependent student, at least one parent whose information is provided on the FAFSA will also need a PIN. You can apply for a PIN now!

FAFSA Code

The University of Dayton's Title IV school code is 003127.

IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT)

When filing your FAFSA On The Web (FOTW), you will be encouraged to use the IRS DRT, which will allow the U.S. Department of Education to access your tax year data directly from the IRS, rather than having you provide the data. This will ensure the most accurate aid award for you and may satisfy the need for further tax information if selected for Federal Verification. Read about the IRS Data Retrieval Tool or watch the DRT video to learn more.

Student Aid Report

The Student Aid Report contains the information you reported on your FAFSA. If you file the FAFSA electronically, you will receive your Student Aid Report electronically. Be sure to review this and correct any errors you find.

Additional Information Requests

Based on the results of your FAFSA, we may need to collect additional information and/or documents from you to finalize your aid for the year. You will be notified via email, which will provide you with instructions on how to login to Porches to access your financial aid information. Many types of aid cannot be credited to your student account until satisfied so please respond to any request for information within 30 days to prevent unwanted finance charges or cancellation.
