Courses Approved for General Education

Students complete the General Education requirements by taking eleven (11) courses in five domains of knowledge.  Four (4) of these courses are taken as part of the Humanities Base. At least three (3) of these courses are taken within a specific Thematic Cluster. The remaining four (4) courses may be selected from courses approved for the five domains of knowledge.

Courses Approved for Arts Study

All students must complete one Arts Study course to satisfy General Education Requirements. This course is in addition to the Humanities Base English course (ENG 102, ENG 114, or ENG 198). This requirement may be satisfied by Arts Study courses that are either included in or independent of a thematic cluster. View approved courses >>

Courses Approved for English

Courses in English composition meet reading and writing competency requirements for all students. Students who begin in ENG 101, complete the Humanties Base and the competency requirements in ENG 102. Students who begin in ENG 114 or ENG 198 complete both the competency and the Humanities Base requirements with that course. ENG 198 is for Honors students and may meet the Arts Studies Requirement for those students exempted from the first-year composition requirement. View approved courses >>

Courses Approved for Historical Study

All students must complete two Historical Study courses to satisfy General Education Requirements. The first Historical Study course, (HST 103, HST 198, or ASI 111), forms part of the Humanities Base. The second Historical Study course can be part of a thematic cluster or serve simply to satisfy that Domain of Knowledge requirement of General Education. Courses Approved for Philosophy

All students complete PHL 103 and REL 103 or REL 198, or ASI 111 and ASI 112, as part of the Humanities Base. Students are required to take an additional two courses in philosophy and/or religious studies to satisfy General Education Requirements. Courses Approved for Physical & Life Sciences

All students must complete two Physical and Life Sciences courses to satisfy General Education Requirements. This requirement may be satisfied by Physical and Life Science courses that are included in or independent of a thematic cluster. Courses Approved for Religious Studies

All students complete REL 103 or REL 198 and PHL 103, or ASI 111 and ASI 112, as part of the Humanities Base. Students are required to take an additional two courses in philosophy and/or religious studies to satisfy General Education Requirements.
