The University of Dayton is a Catholic, Marianist university. What does that mean? It means you will, of course, find a strong Catholic presence on campus, but you'll also find much more. You'll find a community of compassionate individuals who believe knowledge is the key to solving issues on a global scale and moving society forward. You'll discover expressions of faith in many ways, whether through worship at a late-night Sunday Mass in the student neighborhood or through a commitment to service and social justice. Here, students have the freedom to define what faith means to them.

More than 90 percent of our students live on campus and in the student neighborhood, making this a great place to organize activities, make lifelong friends and feel right at home. Located two miles from downtown Dayton, our 388-acre campus is bordered by a quiet, suburban neighborhood — the ideal surrounding for a residential university.

All first-year undergraduate students belong to a learning-living community, which offers students a chance to engage in some shared classes and activities with like-minded hallmates. Later, students move to an apartment, suite or house in the student neighborhood—a one-of-a-kind, idyllic, small-town community of students living side by side in porch-clad houses, sharing meals, conversation and plenty of good times.

We also offer special housing for law, graduate and international students.

From across the country and around the world, students come to the University of Dayton with innumerable interests and aspirations. Whether they're implementing solar technology in Nicaragua, ministering to others over burritos or sharing home-cooked Vietnamese food with friends, our students are working together, sharing their experiences and making an impact on the world.

As a Catholic, Marianist university, the University of Dayton was founded on the hallmark of community. You'll find a family spirit that's contagious and an appreciation for the gifts of every member of the campus community. We pride ourselves on providing you with rich experiences and opportunities to share with your classmates in our inclusive, nurturing community.

While it's our people who make our educational opportunities among the best in the nation, we also have some pretty innovative features.

When it comes to academics, you'll find advanced research labs outfitted with cutting-edge technologies, from alternative energy systems to optical lasers to flight simulators. For physical challenges, head to the RecPlex, featuring 125,470 square feet of basketball courts, climbing walls, an aquatic center and group fitness classrooms with the latest exercise equipment. Those with more artistic leanings will find a welcome home at ArtStreet, our creative hub where artists can live, work and play in the heart of the student neighborhood. If you just want to kick back and relax, Kennedy Union offers bowling, pool and a great hangout space. And to meet up with 13,455 of your closest friends, there's no better spot than UD Arena on game day.
