Dean Lisa Kloppenberg to Step Down in 2011, Brought National Recognition for Curricular Reform

As dean of the University of Dayton School of Law, Lisa Kloppenberg championed curricular reform, bringing national recognition for the way the School rethought legal education. She will step down as dean on June 30, 2011, after a decade of service and return to the classroom. More »


Judge Rice Addresses First-Year Students

Judge Walter H. Rice welcomed UDSL's 1Ls to the legal profession and told them that as law students they are now learning the new paradigm of lawyering. "Lawyers today are problem solvers," he said, explaining that a courtroom battle is the "last resort if all else has failed." As lawyers, Rice said, your objective is to provide a "buffer between your client and the legal problem that happens to bedeviling that client at that time." More »


Learn at Lunch Series another Resource for Job Hunters

UDSL students have a new mechanism to assist them in their job search. The Learn at Lunch series, launched earlier this year, is designed to help students improve skills need to land a job. The series invites working attorneys and employers to share with student practical knowledge and advice. In one program, attorneys talked to student about what they look for in an employee when making hiring decisions. More »


Students Connect with Legal Community at Externship Fair

The UDSL Externship Office held its second Externship Fair on February 4. The turnout was tremendous. More than 100 students met with representatives of almost 50 law firms, government agencies, courts and businesses during the fair. The fair provided an opportunity for lawyers and judges to recruit and interview eligible students for externships in the 2010-2011 academic year. More »
