THE BEST WAY TO EXPLORE THE DEPTHS OF HUMAN THOUGHT IS THROUGH HUMAN INTERACTION.

Welcome to the College of Arts and Sciences. Here you will find our most diverse collection of academic fields under one roof — all offering countless ways to engage the world and explore various questions. You'll work with faculty members to conduct research on pulmonary diseases and publish your findings in academic journals. You also can conduct independent research on Iraqi elections. Write a pop culture column for Flyer News, the University's student newspaper. Watch international films at the Language Learning Center. Compose a symphony or create original artwork as a student artist-in-residence. Launch environmental stewardship projects. Simply choose your field of interest and let the journey begin.

WE INVITE YOU TO CHANGE THE WORLD.

The College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Dayton inspires students to accomplish the extraordinary.

With 18 academic departments and 10 innovative, interdisciplinary programs, we offer a rich array of degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  We prepare students — intellectually and ethically — for lives of learning and scholarship, leadership and service. That's our Catholic, Marianist mission.

Whether you're working with professors to publish your research results in scientific journals, composing a symphony or discovering your calling, we encourage you to engage the world and search for answers to life's most challenging questions.

Our degrees prepare you to adapt and thrive in a changing world. Our students excel in earning major fellowships and awards, graduate or professional school admission, research opportunities, and career advancement.

Please join our academic community and discover the transformative character of a University of Dayton education.

HERE YOU'LL FIND THE MOST OPTIONS, OF MAJORS AND THEN CAREER POSSIBILITIES.

With more than 50 undergraduate majors, the College of Arts and Sciences offers the most pathways of exploration, presenting a plethora of academic journeys for the choosing.

Our unique approach to education produces graduates in the true Marianist mold — those who ask the challenging questions, view the world with a global perspective and prepare themselves to adapt to a world with ever-changing needs.  That's why we have such a broad spectrum of professionals in our alumni, like Wednesday Forest, who used her chemistry degree to become a patent attorney.  Or political science major Anne Gabonay, who started a non-profit program to send books and computers to Cameroon. Gabonay's efforts resulted in the Anne Gabonay Municipal Library.  With so many options to pursue and such a large pool of experience to draw from, the College of Arts and Sciences prepares you for any challenge.
