English prepares graduates to be literate, perceptive, and competent readers and writers who are informed about their literary heritage and who are responsive to our culture and its needs. Accordingly, the department emphasizes training and practice in reading, analyzing, synthesizing and writing a wide variety of texts.
A minor in English consists of twelve semester hours.
Students in B.A. programs can acquire teacher licensure in Integrated Language Arts through the E11A program. For details, consult the department chairperson.
