Industries are experiencing a critical shortage of qualified manufacturing professionals who have the ability to take a concept from art to part, develop a product and design the manufacturing process to produce it in the shortest time, at minimum cost and with the highest quality.
There is more than one way to start an engineering career, and engineering technology may be the pathway for you. The global manufacturing systems engineering technology program emphasizes applied engineering practice, which integrates knowledge from areas of study such as computers, economics, management, math, science, and mechanical and electronic engineering.
You’ll gain a strong foundation in global manufacturing systems through technical courses in design, problem solving and practical application of manufacturing principles. The curriculum also includes course work in engineering materials, industrial automation, manufacturing processes, information systems, CAD/CAM/ CIM, product design for manufacturability, robotics and computer numerical control, data acquisition and measurements, metrology, quality assurance and sustainability. Multidisciplinary teamwork and project management are included throughout the curriculum.
Throughout the program, you will also apply important concepts of sustainability, the lean enterprise, global competitiveness and customer satisfaction. You will also learn about the global enterprise and how to be competitive in these markets.
The industry-sponsored senior design projects give you an opportunity to develop your leadership, project management, entrepreneurship and technical skills as your team analyzes, designs and builds a system to solve an industry-related problem.
