Mechanical Engineering Technology
Problem solving meets ingenuity in mechanical engineering technology. Perhaps the broadest of all technologies, this field emphasizes the practical applications of mechanical principles such as inventing complex machinery or planning air handling systems.
Program Overview
There is more than one way to start an engineering career, and engineering technology may be the pathway for you. Our mechanical engineering technology program offers technical courses that teach you to use creativity and rational thinking to solve problems in design, manufacturing and management, as well as science and mathematics courses that provide a strong foundation.
The curriculum includes strong emphases in mechanical design and computer-aided design, manufacturing, electronics, project and financial management, and the technology of thermal systems. Elective courses, mathematics, sciences, humanities and social sciences provide breadth. The program provides strong preparation in the mechanical field with the opportunity to select electives during the last two years, allowing you to tailor the program to suit your personal career goals.
The mechanical engineering technology program is accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, 111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD 21202-4012, 410-347-7700.
