Ruhlman Award

The Brother Frank Ruhlman, S.M., Award of Excellence for Literary Achievement is presented annually to a UD undergraduate for excellence in writing that has been published in University publications. The Ruhlman Award winner receives an engraved plaque, a certificate and a bookstore gift card. Established in 1975, the award memorializes Brother Frank Ruhlman, S.M., who was director of the Library from 1920 through the 1950s.

Only materials appearing in University publications during the current academic year are eligible.

Submission guidelines

To be considered for the award, authors need to provide the following:

  • Originals of up to 5 eligible pieces from the publications in which they appeared, plus four additional copies of each piece
  • Cover sheet with author and publication information.
