Periodicals
The University of Dayton Libraries currently receives over 2,700 periodical titles in print and over 2,500 in electronic form. Most printed periodicals are housed on the second floor of Roesch Library. The current periodicals area houses recent, unbound periodicals; typically these include issues published within the last one to two years.
Current periodicals may be used in the current periodicals area or be checked out for use elsewhere within the Library. The service desk in this area is staffed during all the hours the library is open. The bound periodicals are shelved in the second floor stacks. Faculty and staff may check out bound periodicals for a 3 day period.
Electronic Journals:
1. Current titles, which may include a few years backfiles, can be found in theElectronic Journal Center. These include periodicals from a wide range of academic publishers including Academic Press, the american Physical Society, Elsevier, Kluwer, Project Muse (Johns Hopkins), Springer Verlag, and Wiley. Additional publishers may be added throughout the year.
2. Backfiles of older periodical issues may be found in JSTOR. JSTOR includes the entire file from volume 1, issue 1 of approximately 100 standard academic journals. It does not include current issues and usually runs three to five years behind the printed version. Current issues of most JSTOR titles are available in printed form on the second floor; some are available electronically in the Electronic Journal Center.
