A sea of flowers — pansies, lilies, iris, hollyhock, morning glories, daisies,  asters, poppies, geranium, wisteria, and the berries of  mountain ash — praises the Holy Mother and her Son  for their goodness and beauty.

 The Madonna’s attire is very Polish: a lacy veil, traditional coral beads, a full red skirt, and a fitted dark jacket. On her face is a puzzled expression as she watches her Son move away from her. The Holy Child in a full gown and voluminous cape is physically separated from Mary. He is totally engaged in the vision of his future mission.
