-
"I don't feel at home - I'm not sure how I can make this place feel right."
- Don't underestimate the impact of getting involved!?Try something new, check out a campus organization or activity.
-
Talk with your resident adviser, your parents, or with a counselor from the Counseling Center.?Sometimes just talking through experiences with another person can help you feel a lot better.
-
Give yourself some credit and time.?It’s a big transition. Think about other times in your life where you went through a big transition and what helped you then.? Can you apply any of those techniques to your current situation?
-
It’s tempting, but don’t go home every weekend.?If you do that, you’ll likely miss out on opportunities to get involved on campus. Plan a special trip home or invite someone from home to visit you for a weekend, but don’t leave campus every weekend.
-
Journal about your feelings and set goals on getting involved.?Hold yourself to these goals.
-
Invite someone you’d like to get to know a little bit better to lunch, dinner or coffee. You might be a little shy at first, but this is a great way to build friendships.
