Adolescence to Young Adult Education
Share your interest in Shakespeare, trigonometry, the colonial period or ecology with students in junior and senior high schools. Adolescence to young adult education licensure prepares you to teach grades seven through 12 by pursuing in-depth study in your area of concentration. Students who choose the adolescence to young adult program may also earn a second degree in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Applied Mathematical Economics
The Bachelor of Science degree in applied mathematical economics examines why people make the choices they do. During your studies, you'll analyze problems of the national and international economies, as well as problems faced by consumers and business firms. Graduates find employment in fields such as actuarial science, banking and finance institutions, business management and education.
Art Education
The Bachelor of Fine Arts program in adolescence to young adult education prepares you to teach grades seven through 12 by pursuing in-depth studies in studio arts, crafts, photography, graphic design and art history. The curriculum provides hands-on teaching and classroom observation opportunities (field experiences) in conjunction with education courses.
Art History
The Bachelor of Arts degree in art history allows you to explore the past by examining art and architecture as manifestations of human creativity and as forms of historical documentation. Graduates have a variety of career opportunities such as art conservation and preservation, art librarianship, art publishing, gallery and museum work, or teaching.
Biochemistry
The Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry examines the chemistry of biological systems and chemical reactions with cells. Business Analytics

Business Economics
The Bachelor of Science program in business economics studies the choices we make when faced with limited resources. You will be prepared for careers in the business or government sectors, as well as for graduate programs in business administration, law, public administration or urban planning.
Civil Engineering
Civil engineers design, build, supervise, operate, and maintain construction projects and systems in the public and private sector. Projects can include roads, buildings, airports, tunnels, dams, bridges, and systems for water supply and sewage treatment. From designing safe crosswalks to bringing electricity to our homes to supervising construction of some of the world’s great buildings, civil engineers have a lasting impact.
Chemistry
Chemistry majors look closely at the structure and properties of matter, as well as the transformations it undergoes. The B.S. program focuses on humanities and social science courses while the B.A. program is more mathematically intense and includes a research component. Graduates often pursue careers in dentistry, medicine, law, pharmacy, forensic chemistry, chemical research and veterinary medicine.
Chemical Engineering
Chemical engineers apply the principles of chemistry, biology, physics, and mathematics to solve problems that involve the production or use of chemicals, fuel, drugs, food, and many other products. Using their technical knowledge, chemical engineers do everything from addressing environmental pollution to designing clothing fibers to ensuring drugs are produced safely and effectively.
Communication
The Bachelor of Arts degree in communication offers concentrations in Communication Management, Journalism, Media Production and Public Relations.
Communication Studies
The Bachelor of Arts degree in communication (communication studies concentration) focuses on the study of how messages are used to generate meanings within and across various contexts, cultures, channels and media.
Computer Engineering

Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 5 Education
As a UD Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 5 major, you'll learn the knowledge and skills necessary to inspire early learners ages 3-10. The program integrates coursework in child development, content, preparation for teaching and working with children with special learning needs, along with hands-on experience and support from your UD community. You'll also earn a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) certificate.
Early Childhood Education Leadership
The Bachelor of Science program in early childhood educational leadership is designed for experienced early childhood professionals who seek a part-time, web-based program. To qualify for this program, you must have an associate's degree (or equivalent) in early childhood or a related field and meet the University's general education requirements.
Economics

Electronic and Computer Engineering Technology
Electronic and computer engineering technology prepares students for careers in the electronics and computer fields. Electrical Engineering

Electrical engineers are the professionals that deal with the study and application of electrical/electronic and telecommunication systems. Electrical engineers may perform a wide variety of tasks involving design, prototyping, and research and development in consumer electronics, telecommunication, robotics and control, embedded systems, and biomedical systems.

Industrial Engineering Technology

Graduates may be involved in the economic selection and location of equipment, the planning of work methods and expected output, quality assurance, facilities layout, and scheduling and controlling the flow of materials.
Intervention Specialist (Special Education)
Focus on the needs of students with mild to moderate disabilities through the intervention specialist program. You will integrate material across grade levels as you prepare to teach learners in kindergarten through grade 12. The curriculum in this program includes the most recent developments in schools, including universal design, response to intervention, co-teaching and progress monitoring. This license also offers the opportunity to earn the Pre-K special needs endorsement.
International Studies
International studies is a multidisciplinary Bachelor of Arts program designed to meet the needs of students seeking the broadly based international perspective required for successful careers in education, government, international business, law, national and homeland security, humanitarian relief, and social entrepreneurship.
Journalism

Mechanical Engineering Technology
Mechanical engineering technology emphasizes the practical application of the principles of the mechanical field. Career opportunities are in mechanical design, computer-aided design, product evaluation and development, manufacturing engineering, computer-aided manufacturing, plant engineering, technical sales, technical service, fluid power, automation, and supervision. A significant portion of graduates are in technical management.
Medicinal-Pharmaceutical Chemistry
The Bachelor of Science degree in medicinal-pharmaceutical chemistry teaches you the analysis and synthesis of compounds of pharmacological significance through combined studies of biology and chemistry. Graduates pursue careers with pharmaceutical companies and government.
Middle Childhood Education/Intervention Specialist
The Bachelor of Science Education program in middle childhood education/intervention specialist prepares you to teach grades four through nine, ages 9 through 14. You'll specialize in two areas of concentration (mathematics, reading and language arts, science or social studies).
Middle Childhood/Intervention Specialist Dual Licensure Program
In middle childhood education, you will be prepared to teach grades four through nine through specializing in two areas of concentration (mathematics, reading and language arts, science or social studies). The emphasis in this program is on the unique characteristics of middle schools and the challenges of early adolescence. Students may earn a middle childhood generalist endorsement (grades four through six). Additionally, a unique feature of this major is that you will simultaneously take course work related to working with students with disabilities toward an intervention specialist license mild to moderate for grades kindergarten through grade twelve.
Music
The Bachelor of Arts degree in music provides a strong grounding in the liberal arts while emphasizing music courses. You will be exposed to music from all eras and parts of the world, including gospel, jazz, popular music and world music. Graduates are prepared for careers such as arts management, music criticism, research and library science and teaching.

Predentistry

Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 5 Education
Instill a love of learning in young children. Early childhood education prepares you to teach children ages 3 through 8 (preschool through grade three), and integrates early childhood courses with information about children with special learning needs. This license enables you to teach content in all areas, with an emphasis on integrated and inquiry-based curriculum. There is an opportunity for additional, highly marketable credentials with this license and the early childhood generalist endorsement (grades four and five).
Premedicine
The Bachelor of Science degree in premedicine provides a science-based, diverse education as a preparation for admission to any of the allied health care professional schools. Courses in biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics comprise the science core of the major and are combined with humanities and social sciences courses. Graduates typically pursue admission to medical schools.
Prelaw
The prelaw program provides students thinking about attending law school with the guidance and academic assistance necessary to prepare them for success in the study of law. As a part of the prelaw program, you will participate in an orientation program that helps you understand your options for selecting a major, discusses the nature of law school and lets you meet with law school admission officers.
Pre-Physical Therapy
The Bachelor of Science of Education in pre-physical therapy can begin your path towards a career in healing and rehabilitation. The courses you will take fulfill prerequisites for most doctor of physical therapy graduate programs, as well as other health science graduate programs, such as occupational therapy. Students pair classroom learning with hands-on experiences to develop into competitive applicants for graduate entry. Some students elect to start working right away in a rehabilitative field rather than pursue graduate study.
Psychology
The psychology program allows you to better understand and predict behavior, as well as apply the knowledge, skills and techniques you learn to solving or preventing individual and social problems. The B.S. degree requires more math and science courses than the B.A. degree. Graduates often attend graduate school but have also found careers in business and industry, community psychology, education and research.
Public Relations
The Bachelor of Arts degree in communication (public relations concentration) prepares you to research, plan, implement and evaluate communication between an organization and its publics, monitor an organization's environment, and recommend programs and policies. Possible careers include crisis management, event planner, media representative and public relations specialist.
Religious Studies
The Bachelor of Arts degree in religious studies explores how humans reason about the divine and how they order their lives in relation to it. You can tailor the program by selecting one of five tracks, including ministry, Catholic schools, graduate school preparation, world religions and a general track. Graduates pursue careers in adult and youth ministry, counseling, mission outreach, parish ministry and religious education.

Are you passionate about helping others discover and deepen their faith? Our secondary Catholic religion education program prepares you to teach grades seven through 12 by pursuing in-depth studies in religion and education. This opportunity leads to the Archdiocese of Cincinnati Certificate.
Sociology
The Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology studies society and human social interaction ranging from brief two-person discussions to the most enduring features of culture and world civilizations. Graduates work primarily in people-related occupations, including government, industry and community organizations. You will be prepared for a variety of careers in education, law, public administration and urban affairs.
Spanish

World Language Education
To meet the needs of our changing and global world – and prepare others to do the same – you can pursue a degree in world language education. This program prepares you to teach French, German or Spanish to students from pre-K through grade 12. This program is offered in collaboration with the Department of Global Languages and Cultures in the College of Arts and Sciences, and requires an education abroad experience focused on the chosen language specialization.
