Open Minds,
Meet Open Hearts

Being a Catholic Marianist university means that your son or daughter will be welcomed into a community that is built on faith, but inclusive of all beliefs. We encourage our students to always ask questions and explore all matters, including those of faith and religion, in order to better understand themselves and the world. They will find numerous ways to express their faith or simply contribute positively to the world. We have one of the largest, most engaged campus ministries, committed to bring students together for worship, service, conversation and fun. They learn about themselves and strengthen their faith along the way.

More than 90 percent of our students live on campus and in the student neighborhood, making this a great place to organize activities, make lifelong friends and feel right at home. Located two miles from downtown Dayton, our 373-acre campus is bordered by a quiet, suburban neighborhood — the ideal surrounding for a residential university.

All first-year undergraduate students belong to a learning-living community, which offers your student the chance to engage in some shared classes and activities with like-minded hallmates. Later, students move to an apartment, suite or house in the student neighborhood—a one-of-a-kind, idyllic, small-town community of students living side by side in porch-clad houses, sharing meals, conversation and plenty of good times. We also offer special housing for law, graduate and international students. No matter where students live, one thing's for certain — they will never run out of things to do.

From across the country and around the world, students come to the University of Dayton with innumerable interests and aspirations. Whether they're implementing solar technology in Nicaragua, ministering to others over burritos or sharing home-cooked Vietnamese food with friends, our students are working together, sharing their experiences and making an impact on the world.

As a Catholic, Marianist university, the University of Dayton was founded on the hallmark of community. You'll find a family spirit that's contagious and an appreciation for the gifts of every member of the campus community. We pride ourselves on providing you with rich experiences and opportunities to share with your classmates in our inclusive, nurturing community.
