Viewpoint

Kelly and I just returned from a wonderful weekend at U.D. for freshman orientation. We were impressed by all who were there to help make the weekend worry-free starting from the moment we drove on to the University grounds. There wasn't a sour face on the entire campus and everyone went out of their way to help us.

We had a great lunch in the dining area. Tech support stopped by Abby's room and helped with some connection problems she was having. (I wish I remembered the technician's name, but he was patient and helpful to Abby and her roommate.) Dr Benson's address to all the parents of the School of Arts and Sciences was specific and encouraging. We enjoyed Drs. Curran and Saliba's address to the entire freshman class and their families. Ending the parent's weekend with such and inspirational Mass gave us overwhelming confidence that our daughter chose the right place to spend the next four years. Father Wittmann's homily was exceptional and the music was moving. Our daughter, Abby, was accepted at several other well known schools both in-state and out and we are extremely happy with her choice.

After Mass we drove south to find a place to eat lunch that wouldn't be affected by the after Mass rush. We ended up in Beavercreek. After lunch, we went to a Target store across the street and had the pleasure to meet Dr. Curran and his family there who were also getting some last minute things for their son. Our down-to-earth discussion with them left a lasting impression with us. It was a memorable experience.
