THE UNIVERSITY HAS THE GREAT
fortune of being in sound financial shape.
Through the generosity of our alumni, friends, corporations and
foundations, our assets now exceed $1.1 billion. The permanent
endowment totals nearly $400 million. The University’s long-term
investment pool and other reserves equal $707 million. And over the
last five years, private giving has exceeded $100 million.
It
is encouraging to see that the Catholic, Marianist philosophy is so
well supported. Yet every day, UD looks to enhance our position as a
premier national Catholic research university. We need high-tech
facilities that will lead to scientific breakthroughs in areas such as
nanomaterials research. We require a new arts complex and newly
configured classrooms that promote more effective learning. We want to
recruit a more diverse student body and hire more nationally known
scholars. We are committed to doubling our endowment for scholarships.
This
Strategic Plan will shape our future as sound financial decisions and
our commitment to our Catholic, Marianist mission guide us. Our future
is one of extraordinary promise.
