Student Government Association
The Student Government Association is a representative governing body that addresses the concerns of the undergraduate student population. All members of the Student Government Association are full or 3/4 time undergraduates.SGA exists to serve and to improve the general welfare of the undergraduate students and to accomplish the following goals:
- to express and interpret student opinion to the administration and faculty;
- to resolve common student problems;
- to achieve common student purposes within the University and civic life;
- to provide official and recognized representatives of the undergraduate students in dealing with other components of the University community;
- to participate with the University administration in the formulation and execution of policies;
- to protect student rights.

The University community is comprised of many constituencies and each student is represented by multiple senators: two to four senators represent the living area of the student; one senator represents the class of the undergraduate student; one senator represents the course of study pursued by the student. The student senators work in various ad-hoc and standing committees that attempt to address issues of concern to the UD student body.
The executive officers of SGA shall be the President, Executive Vice President, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Vice President of Residential Affairs, and Vice President of Finance.
The Executive Committee (Excom) shall be the executive branch of SGA. The President shall serve as the Chair of Excom and have the final executive powers of the Executive Committee. The Excom shall be comprised of the officers of SGA.
The Student Senate shall be the legislative body of SGA.

In accordance with the SGA constitution, SGA is funded by a fee levied on all full-time and three-fourths time undergraduate students. At least 25% of the SGA budget shall be set aside to be allocated to other recognized student organizations through a committee selected and approved by 2/3 of the Senate. Additionally, SGA cannot spend more than 7% of its total budget on internal programs in one school year.
Spring 2012 Student Organization Funding
Student organization funding requests will be accepted through 5pm on February 24, 2012.
To request funding, please submit:
- The budget form questionnaire
- A detailed Student Organization Budget for the events funding is requested for. Note: This is an account of everything your organization is seeking funding for.
