Learn. Lead. Sweat!
The department of Campus Recreation provides a variety of recreational programs, services and facilities for the UD community to exercise your body, mind and spirit. Our state of the art facilities include a 125,470 sq. ft. recreation complex and a 5.5 acre turf field; both offering opportunity for endless recreational pursuits. All programs are designed with you in mind. Whether you enjoy group fitness, rock climbing, floor hockey, basketball, strength training or swimming, Campus Recreation has something for every Flyer!
Dive into a healthy lifestyle (it's approximately 12 feet deep).
An eight lane competition pool. A 12 foot diving well. An eight person spa. And endless hours of fun.
Inside the Aquatic Center, you'll find three areas: a competition pool (25 yards long and eight lanes — two lanes are four feet deep and six lanes are seven feet deep), a Vortex leisure pool (35 feet in diameter and four feet deep) and a diving well (12 feet deep with a one meter diving board).
And if you're looking to relax after swimming laps, take a break in the whirlpool.
Don't sweat the small stuff.
Save it for the rock wall.
Run laps on the elevated 1/8-mile indoor track, or join a yoga class in one of the three group fitness studios. Shoot hoops on one of the main gym's four courts. Figure out how to ascend the face of the climbing wall or how to hit a racquetball with topspin. Pump iron in the free weight area, and get your blood pumping on one of the 60 cardio machines available. You can also swim in the eight-lane pool or relax in the whirlpool.
And when it's time to cool off, head to the Chill, run by Flyer Enterprises, for a cold and delicious (and completely healthy) fruit smoothie.
Where fitness meets fun.
We offer several programs to help you achieve healthy habits that will build a lifestyle of strength and wellness. Hit the gym with you friends and participate in our group fitness classes. Learn in the classroom. Meet on the porch. Find yourself outdoors.
New in fall 2012, the Outdoor Education program serves the University of Dayton community by offering numerous on and off-campus experiences. These experiences include rock wall instruction and open climbing hours, bike rental offerings, and customizable group-formation workshops. The program will soon offer outdoor skill clinics, technical skill courses and certifications, day-long experiences, and weekend-long extended wilderness trips. The program will also develop an equipment rental program for basic camping gear to provide the University of Dayton and the surrounding community an additional avenue to make the outdoors more accessible for personal and group sponsored trips.
Through collaboration, recreation, and reflection— the Outdoor Education program fosters transformative education. Rooted in experiential education, students participate in intentional, challenging, and group-based activities that promote wellness, positive relationships, and care for the environment through active experience in the outdoors. Outdoor Education offerings aim to instill an appreciation for the outdoors by providing space for significant learning and leadership cultivation.
An extra edge.
Bring your game to the next level by joining a sport club (or creating a new one if your sport of choice isn't among the dozens listed).
Competitive in nature, sport clubs compete in regional, national and/or open tournaments and competitions.
We're here to push you.
And that's a good thing.
