Planning an adventure? Friends visiting from out-of-town? UD Campus Recreation Outdoor Education program offers a comprehensive selection of high quality outdoor equipment for rental and purchase at unbeatable rates. Outdoor equipment rentals are available to UD students, faculty/staff, and Campus Recreation members. Our staff will gladly assist any renters with general equipment set-up and use. Individuals are required to complete a rental policy and liability agreement before renting any equipment.
At this time, watercraft (to include canoes, kayaks, pfds, paddles, and transport equipment) is not available for rent. These items are intended for use in structured UD Campus Recreation clinics and programs only.
OEC Rental Hours
The Outdoor Engagement Center, 438 Stonemill Road, is open for equipment reservations, pick-up and return on Mondays, Fridays, and Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and by appointment. Please note, payment is required at time of pick-up and equipment is available on a first come, first served basis.
Rental Periods and Rates
Equipment is primarily available for weekend rentals. The weekend rental period starts on Thursday or Friday and ends on Monday. Longer rental periods and rentals not occurring Thursday through Monday are available upon request.
Rentals are priced by day, weekend, and weekly rates. Rates determined by the renter’s affiliation with the university. To ensure availability, we recommend reserving equipment as early as possible. You can view our equipment rates here.
• Tents – Tents are available for car-camping and backpacking trips for all seasons. We have designated for two to three people.
• Backpacks – Backpacks are available in a range of sizes from extra-small to extra-large.
• Sleeping Bags – Sleeping bags are all synthetic and available for mild to cold climates.
• Lights – Headlamps and lanterns are available for rent.
Stoves & Cooking Gear – Single and double burner stoves are available for rent. Fuel canisters are also available for purchase. Cooking gear rentals include a pot set containing two pots, cooking utensils, cleaning utensils, and a measuring utensil.

How to Rent Equipment
MAKING RESERVATIONS: Reservations can be made over the phone or in-person up to 10 days before pickup date.
PICKING UP EQUIPMENT: Rental Equipment is picked up at the Outdoor Engagement Center, 438 Stonemill Rd. A valid photo identification, completed rental agreement, and nonrefundable payment is required at pick up. Cash, check, credit card, or Flyer card are acceptable forms of payment. Allow 20 minutes for rental pick-up. To expedite the rental pick up process, please complete the rental policy and liability agreement and bring with you at time of equipment pick up.
RETURNING EQUIPMENT: All equipment must be clean and dry upon return to the Outdoor Engagement Center, 438 Stonemill Rd. Upon inspection, renters may incur cleaning, repair, or replacement fees as assessed by UDCR staff. Also allow 20 minutes for rental returns. Late rentals will be charged at the daily rate.
