What We Offer
Always wanted to know how to fix your own bike? Or how to stay warm on the very cold winter days? Do you have a desire to learn how to kayak or climb? Want to get outdoors, but not sure where to go? Are you tired of eating only trail mix on personal camping trips? Two hour practical lessons or informational sessions can help you plan our next adventure or simply teach you the basics to a new skill. Our clinics will include Trip Planning, Kayak Rolling, Bike Maintenance 101, Climbing Safety and Belaying Basics, Backcountry Cooking, Dressing for Winter Success, and Bike Commuting Basics. Clinics are held in the Outdoor Engagement Center.
Outdoor Equipment Rentals
Planning an adventure? Friends visiting from out-of-town? The Outdoor Engagement Center contains a comprehensive selection of high quality outdoor equipment at unbeatable rates. Rentals are available to UD students, UD faculty and staff, and community members. Our staff will gladly assist any inexperienced renters with general equipment set-up and use.
Bike Repair Services
Outside the Outdoor Engagement is a red Dero Fixit bike repair stand that is available 24/7. The stand includes all the tools necessary to perform basic repairs and maintenance, from changing a flat to adjusting brakes and derailleurs. There is also an air pump attached to the stand that fits both presta and schrader valves. Inside the Outdoor Engagement Center there is an additional bike repair work station and small shop where you can purchase small bike parts, including tubes, locks, and helmets to get you back on the trail. For more information about bike repair services, contact Emily Wilk, Assistant Director for Outdoor Education and Camps at email@example.com
The RecBike fleet consists of twenty Fuji Crosstown 3.0 commuter bikes and one SUN tandem bike. Each bike checkout includes a helmet, lock, and an optional handle bar bag and map. RecBikes are available for checkout at no charge with valid Campus Recreation membership through Equipment Issuance in the Campus Recreation RecPlex.
The UD Rock Wall is located in the Campus Recreation RecPlex and features six stations for top-rope climbing and a bouldering cave. Climbing shoes and harnesses are available for use at no charge through Equipment Issuance. Clinics and special events are soon to be offered.
