Second Chance Lottery Information

Any student that does not have a 2012-13 assignment can participate within the second chance sophomore or jr/sr lottery.  You must form one of the group sizes identified below and submit your application between Tuesday, April 3, 2012 and Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 11:59 PM.

Sophomores must form a 2-person group to choose 819 Irving Apartments, or Marianist Hall Middle Wing double rooms or Marycrest Complex North Wing double rooms.

Junior/Seniors can group per available facililties.  Go to http://reslife.udayton.edu/lottery for available facilities for second chance room selection.  This list can change up until the starting time of the second chance lottery on Friday, April 13 at 3:00 PM, EDST.

Jr/Sr students should group to fit available facilities.  If your group size does not fit available facilities, then any facilities that remain after second chance room selection on Fri Apr 13 will be offered during the week of April 16 to groups that do not fill complete occupancy.  Housing offers will be made until all facilities are assigned.

In order to participate in the Second Chance Lottery, you must be in a VERIFIED student group.  All current verified roommate groups were unverified at 2 PM on April 3, 2012.  Students can then recreate groups if they would like to participate in the second chance lottery.  Groups that have not completed the verification step WILL NOT be able to participate in the Second Chance Lottery. 

If you are already in a group that formed for the first lottery AND you are not changing the size of your group, your group leader must still verify the group members so that we know you intend to participate in the second chance lottery as the same group size. 

If you were in a group and wish to change the group size, members may add themselves with the group name and password.  The group will not be considered for second chance lottery unless all original members and new members are verified by the group leader. 

If you were in a group and wish to change the group size, new members may delete themselves from the original group and join another group or create a new group.  The group will not be considered for second chance lottery unless all members are verified by the group leader. 

If this is the first time you have created an application and are forming a group, Roommate Group Steps allows you to create or join the group in your 2012-13 Academic Year application.  If you do not have a group, you can use the tabs entitled "Search for Roommate by Profile" to identify potential group members and invite them to join your group.  You can also like Housing and Residence Life Facebook page to look for group members.

Your Roommate Group size determines the lottery that your group will compete in.  Sophomores can only compete in the second chance lottery as a 2-person group.  Jr/Sr Groups can group to fit the available facilities.  **Remember the size of your roommate group determines the lottery that your group can participate in.**

If you are the group leader, create a new group and share the group name and password with group members so that they can successfully add themselves to your group.

If you are a group member, retrieve the group name and password from your group leader and add yourself to your group. 

If your group size does not fit any of the available properties then your group cannot make room selection in the second chance lottery on Friday, April 13, 2012.

Remember the group leader is the only person who can complete room selection so be sure to trust your group leader.  The person who begins the roommate group often becomes the group leader by default.

If you have a single student application, you will be notified over the summer with single-person offers which mainly consist of single-person vacancies.

After second chance lottery, students without a 2012-13 housing assignment can make housing requests by emailing housing@udayton.edu.  Housing and Residence Life staff will email students housing options during the month of July asking students to reply back by email with preferences of the housing offers.
