ArtStreet

ArtStreet (opened in Fall 2004) is a unique learning and living arts complex located in the heart of the South Student Neighborhood at the University of Dayton. Providing housing for 58 juniors and seniors of all majors, ArtStreet combines innovative living spaces with multi-purpose studio facilities. The complex also includes a student-run cafe, radio station and recording studio.

ArtStreet is part of a university initiative to integrate academic and experiential learning with residential and community living. While the primary focus of ArtStreet is on the practice, display, discussion and exploration of the arts, ALL members of the UD community are encouraged to contribute to this dynamic learning and living environment.

Residential Information

ArtStreet is a unique residential learning and living arts center located in the heart of the South Student Neighborhood. Providing housing for 58 juniors and seniors of all majors, ArtStreet combines innovative living spaces with multi-purpose studio facilities. ArtStreet is a part of a university initiative to integrate academic and experiential learning with residential and community living.

Studio A offers two music practice booths and a small rehearsal space (equipped with drum set and piano). Studio B is a state-of-the-art multi-media room, used for presentations as well as film screenings. Studio C, an all-purpose room, is available for classroom use, group meetings, or anyone who just wants a comfortable place to study. The Studio D Gallery hosts informal performances as well as art exhibits. Studio E is designed as a visual arts studio, used by classes as well as individuals.

The ArtStreet Cafe, operated by Flyer Enterprises, serves as gathering place for the neighborhood. ArtStreet is also the new home of WUDR (Flyer Radio), as well as a recording studio managed by Street Sounds, a UD student organization. An outdoor amphitheater is also available for concerts and performances during the warmer months.

While the primary focus of ArtStreet is on the practice, display, discussion and exploration of the arts, ALL members of the UD community are encouraged to contribute to this dynamic learning and living environment.

There are five 4-person lofts, five 6-person townhouses and one 8-person townhouse at ArtStreet. The townhouses include a common area, three bedrooms for six people, front and back porches, washer, dryer, dishwasher and air conditioning. The lofts include a common area, two bedrooms for 4 people, a front porch on Kiefaber St, washer, dryer, dishwasher and air conditioning.

Standards of behavior will be in accordance with the policies stated in the UD Handbook and Ohio State Law.
