
Student Leadership Positions
New Student Orientation has several different leadership opportunities for underclass students to be involved in. For 2013, the opportunities include Student Coordinators, Team Leaders, Blue Crew Counselors, and Orientation Leaders.
The responsibilities for the different positions include:
Student Coordinator-All positions filled for 2013
- Assist NSP with all aspects of the planning and implementation of Orientation programs for the fall, spring and Camp Blue
- Serve as a primary coordinator responsible for one or more of the following: Academic Engagement, Camp Blue, Move in & Transportation, and Orientation Programming (see below for more information)
- Serve as the Peer Supervisor of the Team Leaders, Blue Crew Counselors, and Orientation Leaders
- Assist with all aspects of orientation staff recruitment including but not limited to: marketing, staffing information tables, holding information sessions with various student groups, conducting group and individual interviews, and making final recommendations for selection
- Assist with all aspects of orientation staff training and development
- Assist with development of all publications and marketing materials
- Assist with all aspects of planning and implementing Family Weekend
- Assist with providing quality customer service in person and via electronic and telephone communication
- Assist with general office tasks including but not limited to copying, faxing, filing, and running errands
- Serve as student representative on assigned committees as assigned
- Other Orientation duties as assigned-this position requires walking long distances, standing, walking up & down stairs, some light lifting.

- Serve as the Peer Supervisor of the Blue Crew Counselors, and Orientation Leaders
- Assist with all aspects of orientation staff recruitment including but not limited to: marketing, staffing information tables, holding information sessions with various student groups, conducting group and individual interviews, and making final recommendations for selection
- Assist with all aspects of orientation staff training and development
- Assist with development of all population specific publications and marketing materials
- Assist with planning and implementing Family Weekend
- Assist with providing quality customer service in person and via electronic and telephone communication

Blue Crew Counselor-All positions filled for 2013
- Attend all staff training and development
- Camp Blue: Assist with the planning and implementation of Camp Blue, serve as a primary student leader for assigned team of First Year Students throughout Camp Blue,
- Move In: Work move-in day at assigned location as a Blue Crew Leader
- New Student Orientation: Assist Team Leaders with assigned programming during new student orientation (i.e. Spiritual Engagement & Commuter, Parent & Family, Transfer, Diverse Populations, and Social), other Orientation duties as assigned-this position requires walking long distances, standing, walking up & down stairs, some light lifting.

Orientation Leader-Rolling applications accepted until April 12
- Return to campus two-three days before first-year move-in day
- Attend all staff training and development
- Move In: Work move-in day at assigned location,
- New Student Orientation: Serve as a primary student leader for all small group discussions, work collaboratively with the assigned faculty/staff welcome team member, assist with President’s Welcome, Opening Ceremony, Closing Ceremony, attend one First Flyer Class to introduce speaker, take attendance and ensure evaluations are completed, collected and returned to NSP office
- Other Orientation duties as assigned-this position requires walking long distances, standing, walking up & down stairs, Serve as a primary student leader for all small group discussions
