First-year Service Project
New Student Orientation 2013 is excited to partner with the House of Bread, a non-profit community kitchen which serves a hot, nutritious, lunchtime meal to anyone in need 7 days a week, 365 days a year for the service component of NSO. This will be the third year that the first-year class will contribute to a community service organization in the Dayton area.
The House of Bread offers many services to their guests, in addition to the lunchtime meal. Their top 10 items for donations include:
- Ground Coffee
- Cans of chicken noodle soup
- Ranch salad dressing
- Peanut butter and jelly (non-breakable jars if possible)
- Men’s gloves
- Stick deodorant
- Travel size toothpaste and toothbrush
- Packs of tissues
- Bars of soap or small containers of body wash
To participate, please bring one of the suggested items above to the NSO Opening Ceremony at the RecPlex on Saturday, August 17. For more information about the House of Bread, please visit their website at http://www.houseofbread.org/.
