| AT&T operator | Dial 8 + 00 |
| Campus to campus call | The University of Dayton uses five-digit dialing. For on-campus calls, use the last 5 digits of 229- and 627- extensions. Example: 229-1000 = 91000 or 627-1000 = 7100 |
| Calling to campus from off campus | To call a University administrative office from off campus, use the 229 prefix. To call a student residence, use the prefix 627. |
| Directory assistance (There is a charge for directory assistance calls.) | Long distance: dial 8 + 1 + area code + 555-1212 Local: dial 8 + 555-1212 |
| Emergency call from campus phones | Dial 911 or Public Safety at 937-229-2121 |
| International calls | Dial 8 + 011 + country code + city code + phone number |

| Long distance calls from an unrestricted campus phone: (Any call requiring 8 + 1) | Dial 8 + 1 + area code + phone number |
| Long distance calls from a restricted campus phone (all student phones and some office phones) | Dial 66 + your access code (you will hear a dial tone) + 8 + 1 + area code + phone number. If you did not hear a dial tone after your access code, hang up and dial again. |

Note: Long distance calls require an authorization code. Contact the Help Desk to request a code. Be prepared to show your ID in person or verify some information via phone. Faculty and staff will be contacted by a technician for billing and user information. Student authorization codes will be sent via email.
