Welcome to the webpage of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Dayton. In 1961, the University of Dayton was one of the first institutions in the country to develop an undergraduate program in computer science. We currently offer two undergraduate programs leading to a Bachelor of Science degree (Computer Science and Computer Information Systems) and a graduate program leading to a Master of Computer Science degree. However, the experience we deliver to our students exceeds beyond coursework. Activities, programs, and events sponsored by our department, such as the ACM programming contest or our colloquium series, provide students with the opportuny to apply the knowledge learnt in the classroom, interact with faculty and fellow classmates in a non-classroom setting, gain experience for future endeavors and, overall, enhance their learning experience. Graduates of our department have enrolled in graduate studies in computer science at both the Masters of Ph.D. level at Carnegin Mellon, Purdue, Ohio State, and Northwesern, and a variety of other institutions or have been employed by companies including as NCR, Teradata, LexisNexis, Microsoft, Procter & Gamble, AT&T, Compuserve, Eastman Kodak, General Electric, Mead Corporation, NASA Space Flight Center, Standard Register, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and among others. Many of these organizations are headquartered in the greater Dayton/Cincinnati area. If you would like more information about our programs or want to arrange a visit to the department to meet faculty or attend a class, please do not hesitate to contact me at (937) 229-3831 or james.buckley@notes.udayton.edu. Enjoy your stay.
