STUDENT HEALTH CENTER - GENERAL INFORMATION

All students enrolled in the University, including Night School, Summer School, Special Sessions, and Workshops, may use the Health Center.  During the academic year, students not officially enrolled in at least one current course, regardless of past or future status, cannot be treated.  During summer sessions, students who have been enrolled and have not yet completed their academic programs may be treated at the Health Center even if they are not enrolled in the summer session in progress.  Health care is not provided for the families of students.

The Health Center provides unrestricted outpatient care to students, including consultation with a physician.  Administration of allergy vaccine at the Health Center is subject to strict regulations.  A copy of the allergy policy can be obtained at the Health Center.

The Health Center maintains a large stock of commonly used medicines and dispenses them directly to patients on the order of the Health Center physicians.  Because the staff does not include a pharmacist, prescriptions from outside physicians cannot be filled at the Health Center.  The Health Center can, however, arrange for prescriptions to be filled by an outside pharmacy and delivered to the Health Center for the student's convenience.

All consultations at the Health Center are confidential.  Medical information cannot be released under any circumstances without the patient's express consent.  Medicines and medical supplies cannot be dispensed to anyone except the patient for whom they are intended.

Students are not required to submit physical examinations either before or after admission.  Any student with severe or continuing health problems is advised to send a physician's report to the Health Center.  No student is denied admission to the University because of a medical problem.
