Student Leadership Institute

The Student Leadership Institute (SLI) is a component of the Annie T. Thornton Women's Leadership Conference that is dedicated to empowering students who are interested in developing their leadership skills. It is designed to help propel college leaders into a lifetime of service and leadership in their chosen careers and in their communities. Whether you are a seasoned club member or an incoming first-year student looking to get involved, the Student Leadership Institute can get help you get involved and be the best leader you can be. The SLI will provide a variety of insights and perspectives on effective leadership and give you the tools to apply to everyday leadership situations. From volunteering at a homeless shelter to running a Greek organization- this Institute provides tangible means to improve your leadership skills through personal growth and introspection. Find out things you never knew about yourself while identifying your strengths and develop the areas that need improvement.

By participating in the SLI students will:

  • Receive a program completion certificate
  • Acquire and develop the skills and awareness necessary to become an effective leader on campus, in your community and in your career
  • Learn techniques to communicate effectively
  • Enhance important life skills
  • Participate in co-curricular activities that will augment classroom learning
  • Network with UD students, faculty, and staff as well as other area students
  • Become an advocate for change
