Peer-to-Peer Ambassador Program Frequently Asked Questions

As a volunteer, you will get the latest UD information and news. Your outreach to fellow Flyers helps us spread the message and reach a wider audience. And by helping us to increase alumni participation in giving, you help to increase both the reputation of UD and the value of your degree while reconnecting with Flyers who share similar passions.

Our UD staff will assign you Flyers who you share a common affinity with, such as people from the same class year or those who support a specific major or club. You will also have the opportunity to select your roommates, classmates, teammates and friends from your favorite student organization.

There is an initial 30-minute virtual volunteer orientation, after which you set your own schedule for peer outreach. We offer three to six messaging periods and invite you to participate — including during our One Day, One Dayton giving day efforts. You will be asked to send two or more communications using the message templates we provide for you. In all, we estimate that being a peer-to-peer ambassador takes less than eight hours per year.

Yes! It’s simple — ask your peers to join you in support of UD without asking for specific dollar amounts. Your UD team will provide you with talking points, templates and scripts to help you.

Absolutely. The 30-minute volunteer orientation is completed virtually through a live Zoom training. Additionally, all of your messaging is sent via an online volunteer platform. You can send messages from anywhere you have access to a computer, tablet or phone.
