AICUO Award of Excellence

Fine arts major Alexandra Morrissette '17 has been selected as a winner of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Ohio (AICUO) Award for Excellence in the Visual Arts (EVAs). She is also one of the six finalists for the Grand Award. Alexandra will receive her award on Wednesday, March 29 at Capital University in the Schumacher Gallery. The event will include a student panel discussion followed by a reception and awards ceremony. Alexandra maintains an active schedule that includes gallery work at Index Gallery, Radial Gallery and Wood Street Gallery, as well as having served in three curatorial projects that inform various communities about contemporary art. She is currently applying to graduate schools for Master of Fine Arts in painting programs.

2016

Bartolone artworkSTark County Artists Exhibition

Sophomore fine arts major Emily Bartolone's work "Space & Motion" was awarded entry into the 2016 Stark County Artists Exhibition and is showing at the Massillon Museum near Canton, Ohio from Oct. 15 through Dec 31, 2016. This competitive exhibition is juried by Mark Masuoka, executive director and CEO of the Akron Art Museum; Frank Oriti, visual artist, Cleveland; and Shari Wilkins, founder and director of the Cleveland Print Room. Forty-nine works by 31 artists were selected for the show, out of  206 art works submitted by 80 artists.

STUDENT WORK ON DISPLAY AT UC BLUE ASH ART GALLERY

Four students from the Department of Art and Design are participating in a student show at the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College. The work of Courtney Hoelscher, Alexandra Morrisette, Allison Parrish and Emma Pierpoint is on display at the UC Blue Ash Art Gallery from January 11 through 29, 2016.

Yeck College Artist Fellowship

Congratulations to our fourth-year Fine Arts major Allison Parrish for the award of a Dayton Art Institute Yeck Fellowship for 2016. Her work will be on exhibit at the Dayton Art Institute this summer, dates to be announced.

About the Yeck College Artist Fellowship: Four college art students are selected each year to teach and mentor twelve select high school students. The fellowship recipients provide intensive instructional studio classes for high school scholarship students. An ability to share their artistic knowledge in an informative and motivational manner is essential. Fellowship recipients receive a stipend to create a new body of artwork for a group Yeck College Artist Fellow Exhibition at The Dayton Art Institute.

STUDENT RESEARCH PRESENTED AT ART ACADEMY COLLOQUIUM

Krista Bondi presents researchKrista Bondi,  art history major, was selected to present her research titled "The Interfaith Campus: The Question of Diverse Sacred Spaces in Catholic Higher Education" at the Annual Riess Undergraduate Art History Colloquium held at the Art Academy of Cincinnati on April 18, 2015. UD HONORS THESIS FELLOWSHIP AWARDS

Krista Bondi and Grace Poppe have been awarded University of Dayton 2015-2016 Honors Thesis Research Fellowship Awards. 

2015 AIGA CINCINNATI STUDENT PORTFOLIO REVIEW

Lori Claricoates earned the regional award Best Portfolio at the 2015 AIGA Cincinnati Student Portfolio Review. This is a highly competitive event and your top placement indicates excellence in new design.

UCDA Awards

Lauren Banfield’s honors thesis document design has won a Silver in the annual UCDA (University and College Designers Association). This is a national competition and only eight of more than 1,000 entries received the Silver status. This competition includes professional and student entries.
