Italian Placement Exam

Before proceeding, we highly recommend you read this important information regarding the language placement exam.

You are taking this required placement exam because you have taken classes in Italian or have experience in the language prior to attending the University of Dayton. Proceeding with this placement exam, you are agreeing to adhere to the University of Dayton Academic Honor Code.

Instructions: (Please read carefully)

Before you start the Italian Phase I exam, you will need to watch a short video on how to create an account on the Phase I placement exam site. After you have access to the site, be sure to read the section "About the Test and Tutorials" for instructions on how to take the Italian Phase I exam.

  1. The Phase I exam consists of multiple choice questions.
  2. After you have completed the Phase I exam, your placement exam will be reviewed and your results will be emailed to your University email account.
  3. Your course placement could be: 101, 141, or Phase II Exam.
  4. If your placement results are Phase II Exam, further instructions will be sent to your University email account. The Phase II exam must be completed in order for your course placement to be determined. Taking the Phase II exam does not necessarily indicate placement into an advanced level course.
