The Brass Performance Institute faculty is made up of University of Dayton faculty as well artists and performers from professional organizations in the region, providing a well-rounded learning experience.

Chad Arnow

Coordinator of Brass Performance Institute, University of Dayton Faculty

Dr. Chad Arnow is the coordinator of the Brass Performance Institute and serves as Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Brass Area at the University of Dayton.  He is a member of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, the Carillon Brass, and the Elysian Trombone Consort.

Eric Knorr

University of Dayton Faculty

Eric Knorr is the Artist-in-Residence in Trumpet at the University of Dayton.  He is the retired Principal Trumpet of the United States Air Force Band of Flight at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, and served in the same role with the USAF Heartland of America Band at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska.

James D. Leach

University of Dayton Faculty

James D. Leach is a Lecturer in Jazz Brass at the University of Dayton.  In addition to playing and teaching trumpet, he is an experienced arranger, jazz singer, and early music specialist.

Yukitada Onitsuka

University of Dayton Faculty

Yukitada Onitsuka is the University of Dayton’s Tuba and Euphonium Instructor.  He also serves as the Principal Tubist with the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra and the South Bend Symphony Orchestra.
