The Vocal Performance Institute faculty is made up of University of Dayton faculty as well artists and performers from professional organizations, providing a well-rounded learning experience.

Minnita Daniel-Cox

Coordinator of Vocal Performance Institute & University of Dayton Faculty

Dr. Minnita Daniel-Cox attended Bowling Green State University where she majored in Music Performance. Upon completion of her baccalaureate studies, she attended The University of Michigan where she received her Master of Music and her Doctorate of Musical Arts degrees. She currently resides in Ohio where she serves as Artist-in-Residence at the University of Dayton and has thriving private studios in Dayton and Yellow Springs. At UD, Dr. Daniel-Cox co-directs the opera workshop, teaches diction, private voice lessons and other related voice courses.

Kay Bosse

Human Race Theater Resident Artist & University of Dayton Faculty

Kay holds a Master of Arts in Theatre and Steinbeck Studies. She has been a resident artist with The Human Race Theatre Co. since 1990 and is a member of Actors’ Equity. She has served the University of Dayton as Production Director, Artistic Director of the experimental theatre project, Jumping Up and Down, as well as teaching a variety of theatre classes.

Errik Hood

Baritone Errik M. Hood, a Dayton, Ohio native, has appeared professionally with Madison Opera, Dayton Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Opera Project Columbus, Chautauqua Opera, and Opera New Jersey, as well as with the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Miami Valley Symphony Orchestra, Gallion Community Orchestra, Yellow Springs Community Orchestra, Capriccio Vocal Ensemble, Bach Society of Dayton, and with resident orchestras of Northwestern University, The Ohio State University, Wright State University, and Northern Kentucky University. He is an adjunct faculty member of the Department of Music at the University of Dayton.

Ryu-Kyung Kim

University of Dayton Faculty

Dr. Ryu-Kyung Kim is a lecturer in the Department of Music. She has delighted audiences with her unique, dark luscious voice and powerful stage presence. Praised for her superb technique and innate musicality, Ms. Kim performs a wide range of roles from Handel, Bel Canto to Wagnerian repertoires.


Wendy LeBorgne

Wendy LeBorgne

Special Guest Instructor

Dr. LeBorgne is the voice pathologist, singing voice specialist, and director of the Blaine Block Institute for Voice Analysis and Rehabilitation in Dayton, and the Professional Voice Center of Greater Cincinnati. She is an adjunct professor at Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, serving as a voice consultant.  Dr. LeBorgne holds a B.F.A. in Musical Theater from Shenandoah Conservatory and masters and doctoral degrees from the University of Cincinnati in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a specialty in voice disorders. Her research has focused primarily on the area of the professional singing voice.

Richard Moseley II

University of Dayton Faculty

Richard Moseley II is a part-time faculty member in the Theatre Program at the University of Dayton, where he is an instructor of dance. For the Vocal Performance Institute, Richard teaches courses in movement.

Jeff Powell

Dayton Opera Conductor & Chorus Master

Jeff Powell has performed extensively with the Dayton Opera, where he currently serves as chorus master. His work includes: 1990-current, Chorus Master; 1991-2010, Music Director Artist in Residence Program; 2009, Conductor, The Merry Widow; 2006, Conductor, Die Fledermaus; 2004, Conductor, The Pirates of Penzance; 1999, Conductor, Cosi fan tutti; 1997, Conductor, Madame Butterfly; 1997, Conductor, H.M.S. Pinafore. Jeff has also served as conductor of 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee; Iolanthe, and Annie Get Your Gun, Wright State University.

David Sievers

University of Dayton Faculty

Dr. David Sievers holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Washington State University, a Master of Music degree from Boise State University, and the Doctor of Music degree from Indiana University. He is an Artist-in-Residence of voice at the University of Dayton where he teaches private voice and related coursework. He also co-directs the UD Opera Workshop.

Linda Snyder

Professor Emerita, University of Dayton

Dr. Linda J. Snyder is a Professor Emerita at the University of Dayton, having taught voice and related courses for several years. She holds master's and doctoral degrees in vocal performance and literature from the University of Illinois and a bachelor's degree in music education from Miami University. She has served as director of vocal studies at New York University and on the faculties of Illinois Wesleyan University, Midland Lutheran College, and the National Music Camp at Interlochen (MI). Dr. Snyder has also served on the boards of the National Opera Association, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and the Dayton Boys Choir.

Andrea Chenoweth Wells is an Artist in Residence in the Department of Music, where she teaches voice and aural skills and coordinates recruitment for the department. A soprano, she is a two-time finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions. She has appeared with the Cleveland Orchestra, the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, Cleveland Opera, Commonwealth Opera, Lyric Opera Cleveland, Dayton Opera, the Springfield Symphony, the Bach Society of Dayton, Mansfield Symphony Orchestra, and Arcadia Players.
