Bachelor of Science in Physical Science

Explore fundamentals and frontiers, ranging from atoms and molecules to stars and galaxies, through physics. In the Department of Physics, you will study and apply principles from each of these subject areas on a daily basis. Subfields in physics include the study of astrophysics, atomic and nuclear physics, condensed matter physics, electricity and magnetism, elementary particles, energy, force and motion, heat, optics and laser physics, and sound.

Program Details

The Department of Physics at the University of Dayton offers a vigorous program in both its educational and research endeavors. Our majors are strongly encouraged to become involved in undergraduate research projects and many opportunities exist for such. Graduates find that the undergraduate physics degree provides them with the foundation for various careers in physics and other fields as well. 

Program Outcomes

If you are interested in combining studies in physics with an associated discipline, you may choose to major in physical science. This program provides a broad scientific background that combines knowledge from chemistry, geology, mathematics and physics.
