Statehouse Civic Scholars: An Experience for Personal & Professional Growth

This is an eight-week, summer residential internship opportunity in Columbus, OH. The twelve students who are selected as Statehouse Civic Scholars intern in highly desirable offices in state government, including the Ohio Statehouse, executive agencies, judiciary, interest groups, and lobbying firms. Last year's Scholars worked for the Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Speaker of the House, Office of Budget and Management, and other key legislative offices.

The Statehouse Civic Scholars Program is made possible by donor support of the College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Fund for Excellence, as well as grants from the AT&T Foundation and the Dayton Power & Light Company.

The deadline to apply for the Summer 2017 cohort is January 23, 2017.

STATEHOUSE CIVIC SCHOLARS RECEIVE:

  • Three hours of internship credit
  • A fellowship stipend
  • Accommodation in apartments close to the Statehouse
  • Excellent networking and mentorship opportunities
  • Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA and be full-time students at the University of Dayton. Graduating seniors are ineligible.
