New Brain

A New Brain

Gordon, a composer, is complaining about his job writing songs for a children's show when he collapses in his salad - the result of an inoperable brain tumor. Gordon and those closest to him are suddenly immersed in a world of hospitals, hallucinations and hope. A true story, based on the medical condition of William Finn, A New Brain is about where in the hierarchy of our lives we place our art, how artistic impulses drive us and, mostly, about the healing power of art. With fascinating characters, clever lyrics and beautiful melodies, A New Brain opens up a new world of thought. Music and lyrics by William Finn, based on the book by William Finn and James Lapine.
