Fair Trade Campaigns National Conference March 2018

The Human Rights Center and the Hanley Sustainability Institute are co-sponsoring a delegation to the Fair Trade Campaigns National Conference convening March 23 to March 25, 2018. The team includes undergraduate and graduate students and staff working on social justice and environmental issues.

The University of Dayton was certified a Fair Trade University in July of 2016 and has committed to fair, ethical, and sustainable sourcing and business practices. Members of our joint delegation will learn more about fair trade and how it fits into these efforts. They will also share their experiences during a presentation entitled, “Breaking Down the Silos: Human Rights, Sustainability, and Fair Trade.”

Uniting human rights and sustainability is a key strategic priority of the university. This experiential, interdisciplinary opportunity will create a cohort of students and staff committed to this vision as they help UD explore what it means to be the University for the Common Good.
