Karl PituchIn this master class, The Art of Chamber Music, the internationally renowned American Horn Quartet (AHQ) will discuss various aspects of chamber music playing, including the importance of good intonation, matching articulation, choosing appropriate repertoire, developing a group sound, etiquette with colleagues, taking (calculated) musical risks and more. Excerpts from the AHQ repertoire punctuate each point. This part of the class is followed by a Q&A session.

A portion of the master class will include coaching ensembles. Since the scope of this class goes well beyond horn playing and addresses successful chamber music techniques in general, it will be valuable for other brass students and, in fact, for students of any instrument.

Karl Pituch, Principal Horn of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra will be joining the American Horn Quartet on this tour.
