Tahira G. Adelekan, M.D.

Dr. Adelekan is an attending physician in the Newborn Follow Up Clinic, Developmental Pediatrics Clinic and Trisomy 21 Clinic at Dayton Children’s Hospital. Dr. Adelekan is a board certified developmental pediatrician who previously served as an attending physician in the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and as an attending physician in the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Dr. Adelekan earned her medical degree at University of Texas Health Science Center. She completed her residency in Pediatrics at State University of New York Health Sciences Center where she was chief resident, and completed fellowships in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics and in Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Adelekan has conducted research on the lipid profiles in children with down syndrome and on improving the approach to identifying sleep problems in children with autism spectrum disorders and developmental delays.

Dr. Adelekan has also been the recipient of a number of awards such as the Doris Millman Award for excellence in residency (State University of New York Health Science Center in Brooklyn), the “30 Future Leaders 30 and Under,” (Ebony Magazine), and the CANDANCE Women of Achievement Award (National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Southern New Jersey Chapter).
