Women in Clean Energy Conference hosted by UD and OSU strives for gender equity

The virtual Women in Clean Energy Conference aims to provide knowledge, connections and resources to help women create impactful careers. “Everyone should have a seat at the table in the fight against climate change, we believe in helping women get there,” organizers of the event wrote in a release. “We want to empower women to make a difference in the male-dominated energy industry and educate men on the challenges often faced by women in the industry. We believe that by providing education, networking, and recruitment opportunities, we can close the gender gap in the energy industry in an empowering and productive way.”

Green Energy Ohio awards ceremony postponed until October

The University of Dayton will receive Green Energy Ohio's Green Achievement Award in Academia at an awards ceremony now scheduled for Oct. 23 at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. Governmental restrictions on large gatherings caused the postponement of the event that honors individuals, businesses, universities, nonprofits, and government and community entities for promoting sustainable energy policies, technologies and practices and educating Ohioans on renewable resources and energy conservation and efficiency.

Champions on the court and off; UD honored by Dayton Power and Light

On the same evening the University of Dayton men’s basketball team clinched the outright Atlantic 10 regular season title with a win over Davidson, UD president Eric Spina raised the Dayton Power and Light Savings Champion trophy. The trophy, and a giant check presented at an event earlier Feb. 28, were in recognition of the university’s $1.2 million in energy rebates this past decade.

DP&L to recognize University of Dayton as a energy savings champion

The University of Dayton received another $700,000 in DP&L rebates for energy savings on campus, bringing the total to $1.2 million. And to celebrate, DP&L will be presenting President Eric F. Spina with a rebate check and recognizing the University for its continuing sustainability efforts that have resulted in the energy savings at 12:05 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, in Kennedy Union Torch Lounge.
