We've Gone Social

The College of Arts and Sciences is extending its online presence with the launch of social media pages on Facebook and Twitter.

While the College Newsroom website remains the primary source for stories about all the great things happening in the College’s departments and programs, the new Facebook and Twitter pages enable the communication staff to share news and information in a faster, more relevant manner.

In addition, Facebook and Twitter will allow communicators to engage in dynamic conversations with College faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors and friends.

Prospective students and their parents are also an important audience. According to Chegg Enrollment Services' 2016 Social Admissions Report, 67 percent of teens report using Facebook for discovering information about universities and colleges.

Facebook is, by far, the most popular social media site. More than 70 percent of all internet users in the U.S. are on Facebook, according to the Pew Research Center.

Twitter hosts a comparatively smaller audience of 23 percent of all internet users. But the microcontent platform is popular among Millennials, with 37 percent of 18- to 29-year-olds using it.

The Facebook and Twitter pages represent the first phase of the College’s social media launch. Hopefully, additional social channels will be added in the future.

Please join the conversation by “liking” the University of Dayton College of Arts and Sciences on Facebook, and following UD Arts and Sciences on Twitter.
