Arts Events: November 2017

The work of graduating Art and Design seniors will be on display in the Radial Gallery Nov. 9 through Dec. 6, 2017 with their exhibition entitled "Continuity." Enjoy this show and other inspiring arts experiences during the upcoming weeks.

"Exhibit: Symbols of Grace"
Monday, Sep. 25 - Friday, Nov. 10 in the Marian Library Gallery during their usual open hours. Symbols of Grace introduces the importance of emblems in religious art.

Exhibit: The Grand Canal and Its Historical Reflections
Monday, Oct. 23 to Friday, Dec. 1, during library hours in the Roesch Library first and second floor exhibit spaces. This exhibit provides a glimpse into China’s history and culture through photographs of the Grand Canal’s evolution and path.

Thursday Night Live at ArtStreet Café
Thursday, Nov. 2 to Thursday, Nov. 16 from 8 to 10 p.m. in the ArtStreet Café. A weekly showcase of musical talent featuring UD student musicians. Visit the Facebook link for weekly lineup.

Roundelay Piano Trio
Thursday, Nov. 2 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Sears Recital Hall, Jesse Philips Humanities Center
Andre a Arese-Elia, Yeon-Ji Yun, and Carlos Elias will perform music by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and Piazzolla.

Kristallnacht Observance
Tuesday, Nov. 7 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception
Marking the Night of Broken Glass throughout Nazi Germany in November of 1938 that signified the beginning of the Holocaust, this candlelight observance takes place at 5 p.m. in the chapel. Music for the event will include selections by the World Music Choir.

Senior Exhibition: "Continuity"
Thursday, Nov. 9 through Wednesday, Dec. 6 during gallery hours in the Radial Gallery, Fitz Hall Second Floor. An exhibition featuring the work of graduating seniors in the department of art and design.

Grease, the musical
Friday, Nov. 10 through Saturday, Nov. 11, 8 to 10 p.m. with a matinee on Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. in the Boll Theatre on the second floor of Kennedy Union. A collaborative production by the Department of Music and the Theatre, Dance, and Performance Technology Program. Tickets required.

Vanguard Legacy: TELEGRAPH QUARTET
Sunday, Nov. 19 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in Sears Recital Hall. Performances by this San Francisco string quartet have been described as “stunning” and “joyous.”

University Jazz Band, Jazz Combos
Tuesday, Nov. 28 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. in the Kennedy Union Ballroom. The University of Dayton Jazz Band and Jazz Combos perform under the direction of James Leslie.

BRAD MEHLDAU TRIO
Wednesday, Nov. 29 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in Sears Recital Hall. The New York Times calls Brad Mehldau “the most influential jazz pianist of the last 20 years.” He is joined by Larry Grenadier (bass) and Jeff Ballard (drums).
