Arts Events: December 2017

All are invited to enjoy a holiday concert by the department of music's University Orchestra and Symphonic Wind Ensemble, conducted by Patrick Reynolds. Enjoy this event and other inspiring arts experiences during the upcoming weeks.

Exhibit: The Grand Canal and Its Historical Reflections
Monday, Oct. 23 to Friday, Dec. 1, during library hours in the Roesch Library first and second floor exhibit spaces. This exhibit provides a glimpse into China’s history and culture through photographs of the Grand Canal’s evolution and path.

At the Manger: Behind the Scenes
Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. For the first time, visitors will be able to tour the Marian Library’s crèche workshop on the fourth floor of Fitz Hall to see how volunteers plan and construct exhibits.

Thursday Night Live at ArtStreet Café
Thursday, Nov. 30 through Thursday, Dec. 7 from 8 to 10 p.m. in the ArtStreet Café. A weekly showcase of musical talent featuring UD student musicians. Visit the Facebook link for weekly lineup. 

Senior Exhibition: "Continuity"
Thursday, Nov. 9 through Wednesday, Dec. 6 during gallery hours in the Radial Gallery, Fitz Hall Second Floor. An exhibition featuring the work of graduating seniors in the department of art and design.

Dinner in the Desert Kitchen II: Just Add Water
Friday, Dec. 1 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Index Project Space, located at the Front Street Buildings in downtown Dayton. Join University of Dayton students and faculty for an evening of food an art @Index Project Space. Our 2nd annual event will once again raise funds for The Dayton FoodBank.

Early Music Ensemble
Saturday, Dec. 2 from 4 to 5 p.m. in Sears Recital Hall. The Early Music Ensemble performs under the direction of Samuel Dorf.

Ebony Heritage Singers
Sunday, Dec. 3 from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Vineyard Church, 4051 Indian Ripple Road, Beavercreek. The University of Dayton Ebony Heritage Singers perform under the direction of Donna Cox.

Strings Night
Sunday, Dec. 3 from 7 to in Sears Recital Hall. University of Dayton student strings musicians perform under the direction of Kara Camfield.

World Music Choir and Javanese Gamelan Ensemble
Monday, Dec. 4 from 8 to 9 p.m. in Sears Recital Hall. The World Music Choir is directed by Dr. Sharon Davis Gratto and the Javanese Gamelan Ensemble is directed by Dr. Heather MacLachian.

Holiday Concert
Tuesday, Dec. 5 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 33 W Dixon Ave, Dayton. The University Orchestra and the Symphonic Wind Ensemble present a holiday concert with Patrick Reynolds, conductor.

Chorale and Choral Union
Wednesday, Dec. 6 from 8 to 9 p.m. in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception. The University of Dayton Chorale and the Choral Union perform under the direction of Andrew Hohman.

Dayton Jazz Ensemble
Thursday, Dec. 7 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. in the Boll Theatre, Kennedy Union. The Dayton Jazz Ensemble performs under the direction of Jimmy Leach.
