Advisory Council Chair

Dan McCabe, chief administrative officer of CareSource, has been named chair of the College of Arts and Sciences advisory council. He will begin his role as the council's first chair on July 1.

McCabe, a council member since 2003, said he was humbled by the honor and looks forward to working in partnership with Dean Jason Pierce.

The council, which meets twice a year, offers guidance and assistance for the College’s leadership, and helps the College strengthen its relationships with alumni, friends, corporations and foundations.

"It is always nice to have another perspective as Jason is going through the development of the agenda for a board meeting, just as a sounding board for him as he is thinking through the direction of the advisory council," McCabe said.

McCabe, a board member and past chair for the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, also wants to help connect the College with community assets.

"I think I can bring both Jason and the advisory council some perspective from the community point of view," McCabe said.

As chief administrative officer, McCabe provides strategic leadership and oversight of administrative functions for CareSource — a nonprofit, public-sector managed health care company headquartered in Dayton. His responsibilities include human resources, facilities and real estate, enterprise project office, vendor management, community relations, CareSource University and the CareSource Foundation.

Before joining CareSource in 2012, McCabe was a senior vice president and the chief administrative officer for DPL Inc. and the Dayton Power & Light Co. Previously, he served as vice president of global operations for NCR Corp. and chief of staff for NCR’s worldwide customer services division, among other roles.

"The College is fortunate to have an engaged and committed advisory council. I appreciate Dan's willingness to serve in this role as the College moves to implement its new strategic plan," Pierce said.

McCabe holds two master’s degrees from Rutgers University and a bachelor’s degree from Moravian College.

McCabe lives in Washington Twp. with his wife, Jean, and three children. In addition to the College Advisory Council and Dayton Chamber, he is a board member for the Downtown Dayton Partnership and a past board member for the Boy Scouts of America Miami Valley Council.
