Lalanne Series - Madilyn Welton

We would now like to introduce you to Madi Welton who is another one of our Lalanne teachers! Madi is 22 and she is from Bloomington, IN. She is a graduate of Indiana University and is currently starting her first year as a Lalanne teacher. Madi will be a part of the Cincinnati community teaching at St. Clement School this coming school year. Keep reading to see what Madi has to say in response to the questions that we presented to her:

What is your favorite subject to teach? All of them – yay for elementary school!

What is your favorite subject to learn? Religion

What is the one most important thing that you want your students to learn from you or take away from your teaching? I want them to know that I believe in them and to never give up on their dreams.

Who is your role model? Describe them:  My older sister. She has been a great role model in helping me to always keep my faith, schooling, and family as a priority. She is there for me and can always make time for me whenever I need her.

How were you inspired to become a teacher? I was inspired to become a teacher by several of the teachers I had growing up and the difference they made for me.

Why did you decide to become a teacher? I decided to become a teacher because I feel that it is the best way I could make a difference.

Why do you want to teach in Catholic schools? I want to teach in Catholic schools because I am able to share my faith with my students and help them not only grow academically, but spiritually as well.

What are three fun facts about you? Three fun facts about me are that I can walk on my hands, love honey mustard, and am allergic to grass.

If you could teach anywhere in the world where would you teach? I did my student teaching on the Navajo Reservation, so one day I would like to go back and see/teach the kids at the school again.

Tell us anything else you would like the readers to know about you… I love the Lalanne programJ.

Here are more things about Madi from the words of her fellow teachers and the staff of Lalanne:

“Madi inspires me to run more.”

“Madi is the kind heart of Lalanne. She is always there to put a smile on your face or to help you out in any way.”

“Madi is your typical sweetheart.  She is so thoughtful and caring and so easy to get along with.  If you want to get to know Madi, just take her for a trip to Olive Garden and you will learn everything there is to know.”

“Madi has one of the most genuine hearts that I know. Period.”

“Madi is a joyful spirit, loving and serving others for the Glory of God.”

“Madi likes deep philosophical questions and conversations. I remember one time at the crack of dawn we were sitting at this quaint café by the river when she started to talk about connectedness. She said and I quote: “Each of us share the same root system like leaves of grass”. That got me thinking about how us teachers are also connected. It’s like we speak a secret language and Madi is fluent in it. She shares this connectedness with her students. She is able to engage them in compelling conversations about Christ and other subject matters. This year she will be guiding her students through the sacrament of first Reconciliation and First Holy Communion and her students are in great hands.”
